I joined CrossFit Catonsville (CFC) shortly after it opened in the Fall of 2013. I had been CrossFitting on my own, either in my sparsely equipped home gym or the “globo sym” at my place of employment or the YMCA since 2007. After discussing it with the owner, Chris, I more fully realized I had a passion to learn and begin coaching the growing CFC community. I received my CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1) credential in January 2015 and immediately began coaching classes part time at CFC.

I firmly believe in the CrossFit methodology. Constantly varied, functional movements, performed efficiently, safely, and at (relative) high intensity is, in my opinion and experience, the BEST way for an individual to get more fit. I have seen and experienced the life changing results that a steady diet of CrossFit type workouts, healthy eating, and sufficient rest and recovery can bring about. Not to mention the community and social bonds that are forged by being part of a CrossFit box. The shared suffering and support that fellow athletes experience and encourage lifts the spirits of everyone, and that is truly magical. I love (LOVE!!) to be a part of this, coach and help others experience it, and share it with the world. My hope as a coach at CFC is that, when you participate in one of my classes, that hour is THE BEST hour of your day. I try to keep my classes fun and lighthearted, providing intuitive and beneficial coaching and cueing of the movements and skills in order to keep you safe, all while maximizing increases in your fitness levels. My goal is for you to finish my classes and say to yourself “Holy cow, that was hard, but SO MUCH FUN! I can’t wait to come back tomorrow or the next day and do it all again!!”

In addition to my CF-L1 credential, I have taken and passed the CrossFit Online Judges course. I am also CPR/AED certified by the American Heart Association. I plan to continue my education as a CrossFit coach by completing the CrossFit Online Scaling and Anatomy courses, as well as passing the USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach certification and/or CrossFit Weightlifting specialty course, the CrossFit Gymnastics specialty course, and the CrossFit Level 2 (CF-L2) credential. You’ll find me at the occasional local weekend CrossFit/functional fitness competition, either as a competitor or a judge.
